Long ago and far away, Chris the intrepid businesswoman tried to find her way in the world. “What do you most like to do?” asked a wise friend. Chris, who was rather perplexed, replied, “I don’t know…but when I retire I want to be a cake lady.”

Out of this eureka moment (why wait until retirement?!) came Berliosca Cake Boutique.

Building on her childhood hobby of cake-crafting, Chris started sculpting creative cakes for friends and family. She studied sugarcraft with internationally renowned cake designer Marcela Sanchez, and has been honing her skills ever since in her Vancouver cake lab (where she is sometimes heard talking to her creations).

Where does the Berliosca name come from?

Madame Berliosca is the vanilla-scented cake lady who inspired nine-year-old Chris to make cakes.
